Presnyakov Brothers’ ‘Terrorism’ at The Courtyard Theatre this July

N1 Theatre Company proudly presents ‘Terrorism’ by the Presnyakov Brothers.

Directed by Matthew Truesmith (Royal Festival Hall, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts) and performed by Court Theatre Training Company final year undergraduate students of our BA (Hons) Acting degree for a limited run at The Courtyard Theatre.

 

Synopsis:

A series of seemingly unrelated scenes portray the ordinary frustrations of everyday life: office workers bickering, a couple committing adultery, grannies complaining about their husbands. But the scenes unfold to reveal the mistrust and dysfunction that have become the norm, in Russia and elsewhere.

The play “Terrorism” was first staged in Moscow in 2002, then produced the following year at London’s Royal Court Theatre Upstairs.

 

Director’s Message:

‘‘While the play is set in a nameless urban Russia, but we didn’t want to place it in any particular place. Nevertheless, it is clearly a play that looks at urban modern life. The title of the play is perhaps a little deceptive because the scenes really examine modern life and the minor ways in which we terrorise each other. It looks at how our actions create violence in unexpected ways.’’
