As a direct result of the Cost of Living Crisis it is more of a challenge now than ever before for students to make ends meet, causing stress and anxiety at a time where the focus should be on their future and education.
90% of students surveyed by the NUS said the rising cost of living had negatively impacted their mental health* and that they were having to skip meals**.
It is suggested the record fall in the number of early Ucas applications in 2023 is also a result of the Cost-of-Living Crisis ***
We at Court Theatre Training Company believe that every student deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential in a safe, supporting environment, regardless of their individual circumstances.
We are therefore launching our “Cost-of-Living Assistance Scheme” to help alleviate students’ financial burden and guide them in the early stages of their career:
For the 2023/4 academic year, all existing and new students on the 2yr BA (Hons) Acting course will be eligible to apply to our hardship fund which has been increased to £1,000 per student, per year.
The Office for Students**** (OfS) have awarded Court Theatre Training Company £300,000 as a specialist performing arts provider which will be used to enhance our training program, invest in state-of-the-art equipment, build new and develop existing industry and cultural partnerships; and ensure students, regardless of their background, are given the best chance to succeed.
We are creating the June Abbott Scholarship, in memory of our founding principal, to cover cost of tuition fees for 1 student for the duration of the whole course. Launching to applicants from September 2023.
Every student will have the opportunity to attend a daily “Breakfast Warm Up” comprising a vocal and physical warm up before classes begin, where subsidised breakfast will be supplied.
We are offering free headshots for all students.
Free, professionally produced showreels will be created for our graduating students.
We are delighted to announce the launch of our very own professional theatre company, Court Collective, which will cast actors directly from our recent BA (Hons) Acting graduates. All productions will be produced under professional, paid contracts.

The Court Theatre Training Company is a Drama School in Shoreditch, Central London offering a fast-track 2-year BA(Hons) in Acting. In the last 3 months over £150,000 has been invested in new lighting/audio/flooring and musical instruments.
