Our BA (HONS) Acting is validated by Buckinghamshire New University.

This means that upon successful completion of the course you will graduate with a BA (HONS) degree.

All of the teaching and learning takes place at The Courtyard Theatre in Shoreditch, London.  You can however access the facilities and resources of Buckinghamshire New University which is a 20 minute train journey from Marylebone Station.

Bucks New University scoops silver in learning and teaching excellence awards

Buckinghamshire New University has boosted its performance in this year’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2018, earning a Silver Award in the scheme which recognises excellence in learning and teaching in higher education.

The TEF Panel reviewed the submission by Bucks, which related to data from 2014 to 2017, and concluded that we deliver high quality teaching and learning, consistently exceeding rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education, and with most students achieving excellent outcomes. It also highlighted the University’s strong performance against its benchmarks for student satisfaction; rates of continuation; and progression to employment or further study for full-time students.

The panel also found evidence of the University’s particular achievements in its:

• ‘provision of personalised learning, supported by small class sizes’ (88% of student time was spent in smaller, practically focused classes of which 90% had an effective size of 16 or fewer students);
• ‘development of individual action plans through the careers service to support progression to employment’ (86% of students received a personalised plan);
• ‘embedding of skills in the curriculum and ‘live briefs’ co-designed with students to address real world problems’ (81% of students agreed that practical activities on their course helped them to learn, 2% higher than the sector average);
• ’active engagement with the student body’(Engagement with Bucks Students’ Union rose by 186% during the TEF period and the Students’ Union was ranked 6th best in the UK in the National Student Survey in 2017)

The TEF metrics measure student satisfaction, retention, and progression to employment. The metrics take account of differences in student characteristics, entry qualifications and subjects studied. This allows assessors to judge teaching excellence and outcomes for students taught in each university or college.

Professor Rebecca Bunting, Vice-Chancellor, said: “Some of our students may have previously struggled with school work or life’s circumstances but they get an academic boost at Bucks, achieving better rates of highly skilled employment than predicted by our entry tariff. This is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff who help students to achieve their full potential, and take great pride in their progress and achievements.’’
